There is joy in the season of Christmas! We take in the wish of Christmas Joy through the story of the Wise Men from the East who came to visit Jesus as told in the Gospel of Matthew 2:1-12. Their joy is an example of our Joy… They focused on the source, they navigated by it, and they understood that joy is the gift.

This is the time of year where we look for belief in the season. But what we believe is determined by who we believe. Who we believe determines how we believe. The message today is from Luke 2:22-38, how two elderly people, Simeon and Anna kept their hope alive. Real hope, God’s hope, it meets us, it proceeds us, and it sets us free.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 is God’s prescription for us 365 days out of the year. Rejoicing, pray, giving thanks is much like the Parable of the Seed Sower that we find in Matthew 13:3-23 which Jesus tells…good soil, cultivating the soil, and giving the first and very best of the abundant harvest that He produces in us.
